Videoland and Netflix Together: Worth It, or Paying Twice?

Many households have Videoland and Netflix together. Is that smart, or are you paying twice? How to check what you really watch, when switching by season pays off, and where an IPTV library can replace one of them.

Videoland and Netflix together: worth it?

If you're searching for Videoland and Netflix together, you probably have both, or you're wondering whether to add the second. That's completely normal: each has its own series and shows. But two subscriptions you only half use is a waste of money.

This article helps you decide whether two services are worth it. You'll see how to check in five minutes what you really watch, when switching by season is smarter, and where IPTV fits in.

Step 1: the five-minute check

Open both apps and look at "Continue watching" or your viewing history for the past month. Count:

  • how many episodes or films you've watched on each service;
  • which series you're actually following right now;
  • which service you haven't opened in the past two weeks.

Barely used a service for a month? Then you're paying for something you don't need.

Step 2: who watches what?

Ask the rest of the household too. Often one person mainly watches Dutch series on Videoland and another watches international series on Netflix. Then keeping both can make sense, but maybe not all year.

Step 3: switch by season

You can cancel both services monthly. A smart approach:

  1. Pick the service with the series you're following now.
  2. Finish them.
  3. Cancel and take the other service for a few months.

That way you watch everything you want, but only ever pay for one.

Step 4: where does IPTV fit?

Netflix and Videoland are on demand. They don't give you live channels, news as it happens or usually live sport. That's where IPTV comes in:

  • Live TV and sport: Dutch, Belgian and international channels with a TV guide.
  • A large library of its own: at Devora TV 200,000+ films and series. For many households, that's enough to drop one streaming service.
  • Catch-up: missed a programme? Watch it back.

You still watch Netflix's and Videoland's originals in their official apps, of course. Just put them next to your IPTV app on the same TV. Read more about choosing between services in IPTV or Netflix? and Videoland, Viaplay or IPTV?.

An example

Say you watch live football and the news every week, and follow one Dutch series. Then IPTV plus Videoland may be enough, and you only take Netflix when a new season of a series you follow comes out.

Common questions

Is it smart to have both Netflix and Videoland?

Only if you use both every week. Otherwise, switching by season is cheaper.

Can I use Netflix and Videoland on one TV?

Yes. On most Smart TVs, Fire TV Sticks and Android TV devices, both apps sit side by side.

Are Netflix and Videoland included in an IPTV subscription?

No. You watch them through their own official apps and accounts. IPTV adds live TV, sport and its own library.
