Switching from Opplex? 7 Checks to Do Before You Move
Before you leave Opplex for another IPTV service, run these seven checks: your internet speed, your devices, the TV guide time zone, peak-hour stability, catch-up, payment and support. Each one takes minutes and saves you a frustrating first week.

Opplex is well known among British viewers and English speakers abroad. If you're planning to move to another IPTV service, most of the frustration people run into has nothing to do with the provider itself. It comes from a slow Wi-Fi connection, a TV guide that's an hour out or an app that doesn't suit the device.
This guide doesn't judge Opplex. It gives you seven practical checks to run before you switch, whichever provider you choose. Each one takes a few minutes, and together they make the difference between a smooth move and a frustrating first week.

Check 1: Measure your internet speed where the TV is
Run a speed test on a phone held next to the TV, not next to the router. As a rough guide:
- HD streams are comfortable from around 10 Mbit/s per screen.
- 4K streams need around 25 Mbit/s per screen.
- Add the numbers up if several people watch at once.
If the result near the TV is much lower than near the router, the problem is your home network, and it will follow you to any provider. A network cable, a powerline adapter or a mesh Wi-Fi point usually solves it.
Check 2: Make sure your devices and app are ready
Write down every device you watch on: Smart TV brand and model year, Fire TV Stick, Android box, Apple TV, phone or tablet. Then choose an app that works with any provider through Xtream Codes or M3U:
- TiviMate for Android TV and Fire TV.
- IPTV Smarters Pro for almost every platform, including iPhone and iPad.
- IBO Player or Smart IPTV for Samsung and LG TVs.
Install the app in advance. Then, on switch day, you only need to enter your new details.
Check 3: Set the TV guide time zone
This one catches out a lot of English speakers abroad. If your EPG is an hour early or late, the provider isn't necessarily at fault. Most IPTV apps let you set an EPG time offset. In TiviMate and IPTV Smarters you'll find it in the settings, under the TV guide or EPG options. Set it once during the trial and check that the programme on screen matches the guide.
Check 4: Test at peak time, not on a quiet afternoon
Any service looks good at 2 pm on a Tuesday. Plan your trial for a Saturday afternoon or a big match evening, when networks are busiest. Watch at least one full match or programme without switching away. Note any freezes and when they happened, so you can ask support about them.

Check 5: Try catch-up and on-demand
If you often watch yesterday's episode or a film on a Sunday, test that too. Open a programme from the past few days in the guide and a film from the on-demand library. Check that it starts quickly and that you can skip forward and back.
Check 6: Pay in a way that protects you
Choose a subscription length only after the trial. Start monthly if you're unsure and move to a yearly plan once you're happy, which usually works out cheaper. Use a payment method that gives you a clear receipt, and keep the welcome email with your login details somewhere safe.
Check 7: Contact support before you need it
Send support a simple question during the trial, for example how to set the EPG offset or how many screens you can use. The speed and clarity of the answer tell you what to expect when something really goes wrong.
Your switch-day checklist
- Keep your current service running for a few days.
- Add the new login as a second playlist in your app.
- Rebuild your favourites from your list of most-watched channels.
- Hide channel groups you never watch.
- Only let the old subscription lapse once the new one has proved itself.
Common questions
Why does my TV guide show the wrong times after switching?
Usually because of a time zone difference between the guide data and your location. Set the EPG time offset in your app, and the programmes will line up.
Do I need a VPN to switch provider?
A VPN is not needed to change provider. Some people use one for privacy, but it can also slow your connection down, so test with and without it.
Will my Fire TV Stick still work?
Yes. Changing provider only means new login details. Your stick, box or Smart TV stays the same.
